Katy Moran – Writer and Author

Hi my name is Ridhima, and I came to the central library with Denbigh High. You have really inspired me and I would like to know, have you got any useful points to help young adults to write their own book?

Hi there – you guys were great! Some fantastic ideas. If you want to write your own book, the best thing to do is simply to give it a go – some writers begin with an interesting main character who leads the plot, others have an idea for a really gripping plot and take the book from there. If you haven't started yet, why not try writing just the first chapter, so the idea for a whole book doesn't seem too intimidating, and take it from there? After that, try to add a little bit every day – even if you scribble it all out the next day, it's important to keep writing. Some writers find it helpful to plan out the whole book before they begin, so you could try this, or just let it flow. There are no hard and fast rules but I hope this helps. Also, check out the Tips for Writers section of this site.
