Whoah. So that was a long break between reviews. Six months! I managed to read only a handful of books in that time and couldn’t even review those. I owe many publicists and editors a big apology for not getting around to reviewing the fantastic books they sent me. I will do my utmost to get to them all in turn now and will hopefully still connect new readers to books as well as bring a smile to a few authors’ faces.
So, what the heck happened? Basically, I got completely wiped out by hyperemesis – for those who haven’t heard of this, it’s pretty much morning sickness with knobs on. For nine months, it was essential activities only. It was like having forty week long vomiting bug. I now have a wonderful new baby and have stopped being sick and so I shall also stop talking about being sick because a.) you don’t really want to know and b.) hurrah! I’ve stopped throwing up! OK, OK, I’ll stop now.
I saw some of the amazing bloggers at a party at Walker HQ back in November – I was already having trouble reviewing when I read TEARDROP, and the lovely Laura aks Sister Spooky advised me that to break a blogging block I should start with short reviews. I wasn’t able to follow this up straight away, but I reckon that’s a good bit of advice, and so my first few reviews will probably be short and (mostly) sweet.
Anyway, so I’ve read BANISHED by the awesome Liz de Jager, and I will review it very shortly. I just wanted to explain where the hell I’d been first.
Oh, and if somebody tells you they have really bad morning sickness DON’T OFFER THEM A GINGER BISCUIT. They will want to hurt you with it, which would be a thankless task for all concerned. But mostly, thank you for reading after such a long break, lovely, lovely blog readers xxxx
